Black Neon Tetra (scientific name: Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) is a beautiful and hardy freshwater fish that makes a great addition to any aquarium.

Appearance

• Size: They grow up to about 1.5 inches.
• Color: They have a striking appearance with a greenish hue and two vivid stripes – one white to greenish neon stripe and a rich velvety black stripe below

Care

• Lifespan: They can live up to 5 years with proper care
• Diet: Omnivores, they eat a variety of foods including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods
• Water Conditions: They thrive in water temperatures between 68F-82F, with a pH of 5.0-7.5
• Tank Size: A minimum of 10 gallons is recommended, but 20 gallons is ideal

Behavior

• Temperament: Peaceful and schooling fish, they should be kept in groups of six or more
• Tank Mates: They get along well with other peaceful fish like rasboras, danios, gouramis, and small catfish

Breeding
